Lone Survivor Soundtrack: Every Song in the 2013 Movie
- “Canned Heat” by Jamiroquai (00:18:00): The Lone Survivor soundtrack song plays during a light-hearted sequence. Shane Patton (Alexander Ludwig), a U.S. Navy Seal Machinist’s Mate, prepares for an initiation ritual. He begins dancing as comrades cheer. An unidentified soldier — portrayed by the film’s director, Berg — asks for “more neck.” The Lone Survivor soundtrack song drops as Shane recites “Ballad of the Frogman.”
- “Heroes” by Peter Gabriel and the New Blood Orchestra (01:52:00): Marcus flatlines and then awakens as the film ends. He says, “You are never out of the fight.” A final epilogue identifies the soldiers who passed away during Operation Red Wings. The Lone Survivor soundtrack song scores a montage. David Bowie originally co-wrote the track with Brian Eno for the 1977 album of the same name. Peter Gabriel covered the tune for his 2010 album Scratch My Back.
