Death of a Unicorn stars Jenna Ortega as Ridley, an American teenager who thinks about her late mother. Paul Rudd co-stars as Elliot, the protagonistโs lawyer father who seeks a proxy job from his billionaire boss. The storyline follows the main protagonists as they strategize against their hosts while trying to protect a family of unicorns. Composer Giosuรจ Greco (Didi) and Dan Romer (Beasts of the Southern Wild) scored the 107-minute film; music supervisor Melissa Chapman (A Different Man) and Annie Pearlman (A Different Man) selected the featured needle-drops. - “Cherry-Coloured Funk” by Cocteau Twins (00:02:00): The film opens with an airport sequence. Ridley listens to a message from her pilot. She rests against the shoulder of her father and puts headphones on moments later. The Death of a Unicorn soundtrack song continues during a transition sequence in the Canadian Rockies. An exterior montage begins. Elliot drives a vehicle as Ridley looks out a window. The Death of a Unicorn music drops as he worries about losing phone service.
- “DOA” by St. Vincent (01:41:00): Ridley and Elliot ride in a police car after being arrested. Griff (Anthony Carrigan) travels in a vehicle behind them. A family of unicorns run toward the police vehicle and ultimately push it off the road as the movie ends. The track scores the film’s end credits sequence.
