Society of the Snow stars Enzo Vogrincic as Numa Turcatti, an Uruguayan rugby player who tries to survive in the Andes mountains after a plane crash. Agustín Pardella co-stars as Fernando “Nando” Parrado, the protagonist’s teammate who leads a rescue mission. The storyline follows Numa and his friends as they desperately search for help while dealing with brutal conditions. Composer Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille) scored the 144-minute Netflix film; music supervisor Carmen Rodríguez Díaz (Un Amor) selected the featured needle-drops. An airplane exits a hangar. A radio DJ named Berch Rupenian (as himself) addresses his audience in Montevideo. Numa wears a brown coat and exits a taxi. He arrives at Carrasco International Airport.
  • “Zamba Del Ringo” by Mercedes Sosa (01:33:00): Roberto (Matías Recalt) reaches out for help through a radio. The track kicks in during a transition scene. Tango music plays from a radio as Numa narrates about losing strength with each passing day. The Society of the Snow soundtrack song drops as he talks about food rations and stripping bones for meat.
  • “Schubert: Ave Maria, Op. 52, No. 6, D. 839” by Barbara Bonney & Geoffrey Parsons (01:58:00): An exterior landscape sequence begins. Music plays from a radio. A reporter interrupts the broadcast to announce the discovery of plane crash survivors (Roberto and Nando).
