Orion and the Dark stars Jacob Tremblay as Orion, an 11-year-old boy who feels afraid of everything. Paul Walter Hauser co-stars as Dark, a night entity who befriends the main protagonist. The storyline follows Orion as he confronts his fears with the help of a special friend. Composers Kevin Lax (The First Purge) and Robert Lydecker (Sleepy Hollow) scored the 90-minute Netflix film; music supervisor Matt Manna (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) selected the featured needle-drops. Orion and the Dark Soundtrack: Every Song in the 2024 Netflix Movie
- “Apocalypse Dreams” by Tame Impala (00:16:00): Orion finishes a conversation with Dark. He worries about being paralyzed by fear. Orion thinks about traumatic memories and looks for Dark. The Orion and the Dark soundtrack song kicks in as the main characters make a deal. The music stops abruptly as Hypatia (Mia Akemi Brown) talks to her father  — an older version of Orion (Colin Hanks ). She muses about her fear of the dark. The music picks up again as Orion reluctantly begins an adventure with Dark. The characters experience “the virtues of night.” Orion tells Dark that he is a “terrible salesman.”
- “The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song” by The Flaming Lips (00:40:00): Adult Orion continues telling a story to Hypatia. The Orion and the Dark soundtrack song sets in during a drive-in movie theatre sequence. Orion and Dark ear popcorn while enjoying a film. The track continues during a montage sequence. Orion bonds with Dark while traveling across the Earth. They have fun with with other night entities named Sweet Dreams (Angela Bassett ), Sleep (Natasia Demetriou) Unexplained Noises (Golda Rosheuvel and Insomnia (Nat Faxon).
