In His Shadow stars Kaaris as Ibrahim, a French gangster who protects the Murets Projects outside Paris. Alassane Diong co-stars as Adama, Ibrahim’s blind half-brother who aspires to be a musician. The storyline follows the focal siblings as their lives spiral out of control. Composers Thomas Couzinier (Black Spot) and Frédéric Kooshmanian (Black Spot) scored the 89-minute Netflix film; a team of five music supervisors selected the featured needle-drops.   • Zombie” by Fela Anikulapo Kuti (00:03:00): The In His Shadow soundtrack song scores a flashback sequence. Adama narrates about his “monster” and upbringing. The track plays as a graphic identifies an 80s setting. Ousmane (Issaka Sawadogo) moves his family to the Murets Projects. Adama narrates about his father’s motivations. The music continues during a soccer scene and fades during an interior home sequence.
  • “Baara” by Amadou & Mariam (00:09:00): The In His Shadow soundtrack song accompanies an outdoors party sequence. A group of people eat and hang out at the Murets Projects. Young Adama talks to a friend. He rushes to break up a fight and gets hit by a car. Young Adama gets blinded from the accident.
  • “Le Roi Des Ombres” by Kaaris (01:23:00): Young Adama repeats a mantra about embracing his weaknesses. The track scores the end credits.
