Dhamaka stars Kartik Aaryan as Arjun Pathak, a Mumbai journalist and radio DJ. Mrunal Thakur co-stars as Soumya Mehra Pathak, the protagonist’s colleague and ex-wife. When a man threatens to blow up the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Arjun tries to prevent a tragedy while also hoping to improve the network’s ratings. Composer Vishal Khurana (Neerja) scored the 104-minute film and also handled the music direction. Here’s a breakdown of the three featured songs in Dhamaka.
Dhamaka Soundtrack: Every Song in the 2021 Netflix Movie
- “Kasoor” by Prateek Kuhad (00:00:00): The Dhamaka soundtrack song plays during the opening sequence. Arjun records home videos with his wife, Soumya. Thakur’s character celebrates a new job at TRTV’s Bharosa 24 x 7; Arjun wins a Journalist of the Year award. The music captures the good times in the relationship and also plays while the characters process a divorce.
- “Khoya Paaya” by Jasleen Royal (1:28:00): Arjun learns from a news broadcast that his ex-wife, Soumya, has passed away. He stands in silence while seeing her lifeless body on television. The lyric “What you have you gained and lost?” complements Arjun’s perspective after surviving a terrorist attack in Mumbai. The Dhamaka soundtrack music cuts during a flashback moment in which Soumya preps Arjun for his first primetime broadcast.
- “Khoya Paaya” by Amit Trivedi & Delraez Bunshah (1:33:00): Arjun detonates an explosive after being falsely identified as a terrorist. A male vocal version of the Dhamaka soundtrack song accompanies the final sequence. The camera zooms in on Arjun’s face as the film ends (along with the protagonist’s life).
