Woody Harrelson co-stars as the protagonist’s loyal handler, while teenager actress Miku Martineau delivers a breakthrough performance as a youth with familial connections to Tokyo’s criminal underworld. Supervised by Liza Richardson (Lovecraft Country), the Kate soundtrack includes music that’s specific to the various Japanese settings.

Kate Soundtrack: Every Song in the 2021 Netflix Movie

• “I’m a Pop” by Chanmina (00:05:00): Kate breaks protocol and kills a target in front of a young girl (later revealed to be Martineau’s Ani). “I’m a Pop” plays over a neon title card and continues during a Tokyo sequence. The Kate soundtrack song stops when the title character ends a workout and watches a woman converse with her daughter. “I’m a Pop” scores a later sequence at 0:35:00 when Ani talks trash to Kate.
• “Una Canción En La noche” by Gonzalo Curiel (00:08:00): The tune scores a Tokyo bar scene. Winstead’s character sits before a barely-touched glass of Margeaux, and then meets an admirer named Stephen (Michiel Huisman). Kate will later regret meeting the man.
• “Blooming” by Band-Maid (00:13:00): Kate misses a target during a final mission and steals a car. The song plays as she drives off and tries to make up for her mistake. Kate crashes the vehicle moments after trying to stop the music.
• “O O I A H” by OOIOO (00:23:00): Varrick informs Winstead’s character that she might be able find Kazuo Sato at The Black Lizard night club. The Kate soundtrack song plays during a supermarket scene, and then drowns out as the protagonist prepares a silencer.
• “Choose Me” by Band-Maid (00:29:00): Kate arrives at a night club looking for Ani. The band performs the song live at the venue. Kate approaches the stage, spots Ani and realizes that she killed the girl’s father. “Choose Me” continues as Winstead’s character uses a defibrillator during an attack sequence.
• “Shonanzoku -Cannibal Coast-” by Aural Vampire (00:52:00): The Kate soundtrack song plays during a fight between Winstead’s character and Jojima (Miyavi). Ani tries to load a gun. The music stops when the gangster gets whacked over the head.
• “Girls It Ain’t Easy” by MoNa aka Sad Girl (01:22:00): Kate survives after getting shot by Ani. She’s saved by Kijima (Jun Kunimura) and tracks down her former boss, Varrick (Harrelson), along with the girl. Kate wears Ani’s shades as she arrives at the Nakamatsu building.
• “Kinjitou” by Reol (01:35:00): The Netflix movie concludes with a moment between Kate and Ani. A tear drops from the titular protagonist’s eye as she presumably passes away. The Kate soundtrack song plays over the end credits.
