In July 2021, Lionsgate announced the upcoming Anna Kendrick movie Alice, Darling. The thriller marks the feature directorial debut for Mary Nighy, and centers on the titular character who behaves erratically before and during a road trip with two friends. Written by Alanna Francis (The Rest of Us), Alice Darling co-stars Charlie Carrick (Reign, Departure), Wunmi Mosaku (His House, Lovecraft Country), Kaniehtiio Horn (Possessor, Death Wish) and Markjan Winnick (Isabelle, Vikings).

Based on a true story, the upcoming Anna Kendrick movie Rodney & Sheryl was inspired by a woman who unknowingly selected a serial killer on ABC’s The Dating Game. The film will be directed by Chloe Okuno, who wrote the 2021 franchise movie V/H/S/94. Rodney & Sheryl  stars Kendrick as Cheryl Bradshaw, the woman who met the infamous Rodney Acala in a 1978 episode of The Dating Game.

The Anna Kendrick movie Unsound received a green light in August 2019, but filming hasn’t commenced for the indie thriller as of August 2021. Bharat Nalluri (Little America) will direct the film, which is based on a screenplay by Christopher Edwards and Matthew Ross (Frank & Lola). In Unsound, Kendrick stars as a New England state trooper with hearing issues who becomes immersed in a conspiracy while investigating a gang leader.

Kendrick will reprise her role as Darby Carter in season 2 of the HBO Max series Love Life. The romantic comedy anthology premiered in May 2020 and received a renewal one month later. Kendrick executive produces Love Life, which will focus on the romantic experiences of a new lead character in the second installment. According to a 2021 report, Anna Kendrick will appear “occasionally” as Darby Carter.
